Attorney William H. Underwood

William Underwood is a proud veteran of the United States Navy.  He received numerous commendations while serving as a nuclear reactor operator on board a nuclear submarine.

Following his military service, he completed a B.S. degree in Economics, Summa Cum Laude, graduating from the College of Charleston in 1990.  Additional collegiate honors include:

• The Fanchon Morrow Condon award for outstanding academic performance in Business and Economics

• Multiple inclusions in Who's Who
  
• Election to the Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies

After several years in the restaurant management field, William obtained his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1998.

While at UHLC, he acted as the Associate Editor for the Houston Law Review, and he also received the Corpus Juris Secundum Award for Scholastic Excellence in the field of Criminal Law.

William is actively admitted and licensed to practice law in all Courts of the State of Texas and the  United States District Court of the Northern District of Texas.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Collin County Defense Lawyers Association.

William practices in all areas of criminal defense and trial work, both at the misdemeanor and felony levels, but his primary area of focus is D.W.I. defense.

When he's not representing clients and winning cases, William enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including snow and water skiing, wake boarding, scuba diving, camping, canoeing, target shooting, hiking, fishing and hunting.  On the tamer side, William also enjoys a good game of chess or dominoes along with meditating, reading, and especially writing.   His debut novel, Revokable Trust, is expected to be released early next year. He resides in McKinney with his wife, San, and their daughter, Kaitlyn.   William's other "kids" include Hank, a Chocolate Lab, Nosler, a Weimaraner, and Kipling, a German Shorthaired Pointer.
